The Summertime Theatre Serial is a costless summer theatre program open to current fifth through 12th grade students in Austin ISD. Student actors, dancers, technicians, and musicians are invited to participate! Audition help is available and no feel is necessary!

The 2022 Summertime Theatre Serial will characteristic the post-obit programming:

2022 STS Rising Stars: A one-week educational theatre camp offering classes in interim, dancing, and singing.  Ascent Stars is "Preparation young actors to exist tomorrow'due south stars." - June six - 10
2022 STS Musical: The Addams Family unit - June 6 - July 25
2022 STS Black Box Studio Product: Alice In Wonderland - June half dozen - July 25
2022 STS Technical Track: Technical Theatre focus in Stage Direction, Lights, Sound, Costumes, Brand-Up, Props, and/or Scenery. - June 6 - July 25

To register for the program, please follow these steps:

By midnight on Apr thirteen: Complete the Google Form
By midnight on April xiii: Join the Google Classroom Code: zbfrt5i
By midnight on Apr 15: Submit your audition videos or your application for the technical runway.

Audience Videos:

All performers must submit a 1-minute monologue to Google Classroom.
All students auditioning for the musical must submit a one-minute monologue, a dance video, and a singing video to Google Classroom.
All musicians must submit an audition video to Google Classroom.
All technicians must submit a technician awarding to Google Classroom.

Audition Workshop and Question & Reply Session:

Join us April eleven at 5:30pm for azoom workshop and question and reply session.

Location:

Rehearsals take place at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm with extended hours the week of performances. Please view the tentative rehearsal calendar.

Transportation:

This year, nosotros are excited to exist providing several transportation options for our students.  We will have a daily bus running to and from South Austin'southward Bedichek Middle School campus, carpools, and gratis city bus passes available for students through the Kids Ride Free program with Capital Metro.  City bus locations are conveniently located at the corner of Mueller Blvd. and Barbara Jordan Blvd. and across from Dell Children's Hospital.

Internships:

STS offers internships to AISD alumni who have completed at least one year of college or preparatory schoolhouse.  This position has a $500 stipend.  Apply by April fifteen: Internship Application

Join the ensemble and make lifelong memories in the 2022 Austin ISD Summer Theatre Serial!


The Austin ISD Visual & Performing Arts Department believes that a Visual & Performing Arts education is essential for the development of the whole kid. The arts provide students with unique experiences that allow them to explore their passions, maximize their creativity and critical thinking skills, and learn valuable lessons about cocky-motivation, dedication, teamwork and communication.

AISD is a recognized leader in urban educational activity and is dedicated to providing an arts-rich pedagogy for every pupil. Visual & Performing Arts education is available at all 129 schools. Every elementary student in the district receives a high-quality education in elementary and music.

Secondary schools throughout AISD offer many different Visual & Performing Arts strands for students to pursue:

  • Ring
  • Choir
  • Trip the light fantastic toe
  • Guitar
  • Orchestra
  • Theatre
  • Visual Arts

Each of these sequential courses, all of which feature a meaningful and rigorous curriculum taught by expert staff, provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for cognitive, artistic, emotional and social growth. By enrolling in these Visual & Performing Arts courses, students are likewise eligible to participate in clinics and contests such as All-City Guitar, All-City Band, All-Metropolis Choir, UIL Concert and Sight Reading, One Act Play, Dance Spectacular and Visual Art Scholastic Issue, as well as various concerts, events and art exhibits throughout the community. Visual & Performing Arts students from AISD have won numerous district, state and national awards and scholarships, and many have gone on to pursue the arts in higher education and beyond.

In addition to Visual & Performing Arts education, Austin ISD offers Visual & Performing Arts Academies for students interested in an accelerated arts curriculum.
